As an official Arts Award Supporter, we offer specialist school lesson programming which tie in with the curriculum as well as professional development for teachers. You can bring your students for a gallery visit or we can come to you, join us for teachers’ events and INSET sessions or download our free learning resources to use at a time to suit you.
We currently offer the opportunity for young people to gain their Arts Award Discover Shakespeare certificate by taking part in our augmented reality trail using GAMAR. Participants work their way around the gallery discovering the answers to a series of questions, and have the chance to learn more about artist Marc Chagall, Shakespeare and The Tempest, and have a go at performance, costume design and other creative processes.
Refugees: The Lives of Others
Free learning resource for Primary Schools
Our learning resource, exploring work by Eva Frankfurther, focuses on portraiture with the themes: identity, relationships and migration. Her portraits reflect the ethnically diverse, largely immigrant population of London in the 1950s. Pupils will have the opportunity to explore the history of the time through storytelling, role play and practical art activities, bringing portraits to life in an imaginative way.

Meet an Eyewitness
Students can visit the gallery and have the opportunity to meet a Second World War eyewitness who can answer students’ questions and share their memories of Kindertransport; arriving in Britain from Germany.
