Community and Wellbeing

Ben Uri is committed to the wellbeing of the wider community. We do this in a number of ways including museum tours, outreach projects and lecture programmes.

Reaching out to communities

Over Ben Uri’s 100 year history, we have extended our reach to many London communities. We are committed to bringing our unique collection out of the gallery and into the community where our partners can connect with the Gallery comfortably within their own settings. We hope that by sharing our story and enjoyment of art and creativity, you will share yours too.

Art and Wellbeing

Ben Uri’s Wellbeing programme has grown from strength to strength over the past year reflecting the endless ways art is being proven to improve wellbeing and in turn, health.

Using the main collection alongside temporary exhibitions, we run a range of activities across several locations; from our touring lecture series and creative art sessions at residential care homes, to art therapy sessions in dementia day care centres, gallery tours and a range of fun one-off events. Ben Uri is also committed to research, both social and clinical.

Ben Uri in the Communuity

As part of an ongoing engagement programme Ben Uri is working with three community partners across London; SHAK (South Hampstead and Kilburn Community Association); Oxford House (Bethnal Green); and Paddington Arts (Westbourne Park).

To mark 2015’s centenary programme the learning department held a number of events and workshops integrating the stories of these organisations with Ben Uri’s own story.
