Celebrating London Creativity and Wellbeing Week, this free workshop invites you to view the current exhibition and make art alongside three Art Psychotherapists.
Art making allows us to access and express emotions when words feel inadequate. New Art Studio and Ben Uri welcomes you to play, explore, and experience the power of communal art making.
The current exhibition presents art made by refugee and asylum seeking artists at the New Art Studio (a therapeutic art community), many of whom had never painted before joining. With that in mind, no art experience is needed for this workshop, just a desire or curiosity to make art. Pick up a brush, a pencil or a crayon and make a mark. Be brave! Art making can be invigorating, energising and therapeutic, leading us to discover parts of ourselves that were previously unknown.
This event is run by experienced Art Psychotherapists Jon Martyn and Tania Kaczynski, alongside trainee Art Psychotherapist Shan Rixon, all three of whom manage the New Art Studio. The workshop will be as the New Art Studio is, with inclusion, acceptance and encouragement at its core.
Come and find inspiration in the exhibition, and be surprised by what you can produce!
