Talk hosted by the Ben Uri in 2012 on the role of mythology in contemporary transcultural art.
The talk was given by two respected artists, Siona Benjamin and Shanti Panchal.
Siona Benjamin, a Bombay-born, Jewish artist now living in America, incorporates Jewish themes into her paintings. Working in a traditionally Indian style, she combines Biblical stories and Hebrew text with images of Hindu gods. Find out more about Siona’s work at her website artsiona.com
Shanti Panchal moved from India to Britain in 1978. He works in watercolour to produce paintings which merge Indian, mythological, traditional and contemporary themes. See his painting at the website: www.shantipanchal.com.
